The present invention relates to a method for screening a whitening material by measuring mitochondrial dynamics and a kit using the same. More specifically, the activity of mitochondria is reduced so that dynamics are inhibited. Then, a candidate material is treated, and it is measured if mitochondrial dynamics increase, so that it is evaluated if the candidate material has a whitening effect. The kit can conveniently screen a whitening material using the characteristics of mitochondria.
