The present invention relates to a time offset estimating method based on an accumulated cross-correlation of an IEEE 802.16e system. The time offset estimating method based on the accumulated cross-correlation of the IEEE 802.16e system according to the present invention detects time offset based on a ranging code which BS receives from MS in an initial ranging process of an uplink in the IEEE 802.16e system. According to the present invention, a power difference between a main peak and a peripheral peak is increased by accumulating the correlation value of an additional cross-correlation function on the correlation value of an initial cross-correlation function after a cross-correlation function about an initial ranging signal is produced and an additional cross-correlation function about the repetitive ranging signal is produced by using the repetition property of the ranging signal.
