The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a food composition for inhibiting metastasis or preventing cancer, including extracts of Illicium verum Hook.f. or fraction thereof as an active ingredient wherein the composition including the extract of Illicium verum Hook.f. or fraction thereof has less cell toxicity and few side effects while inhibiting metastasis, thereby being used in drug for treating metastasis or diseases related to metastasis or in a functional food formulation for preventing or improving metastasis or diseases related to metastasis.
