A surge protecting apparatus for protecting an excess voltage to a load according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a gas discharge pipe which connects a ground line and a voltage line which a fixed DC voltage is applied to; a relay which is connected in parallel to the gas discharge line and receives the fixed DC voltage; a triac which has a first terminal connected to the voltage line and a second terminal connected to a ground line by the operation of the relay which the fixed DC voltage is applied to; and a capacitor which is connected between the gate terminal of the triac and the voltage line. When an excess voltage is inputted between the voltage line and the ground line, the gas discharge pipe is opened by the excess voltage. The triac is opened by the excess current inputted to the gate terminal.
