In the present invention, disclosed are a micro-mesoporous core-shell composite molecular sieve for reducing harmful ingredients of cigarettes and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the steps of: adding a template agent into a solution of which the alcohol-water ratio is 1:1 to 4:3; adding a zeolite molecular sieve; performing ultrasonic dispersion for 0.5-2 hours; dropping tetraethoxysilane of which the mass is 1-1.5 times that of the zeolite molecular sieve into the zeolite molecular sieve; stirring for 24-48 hours at room temperature; extracting a template agent using ethanol at normal temperature to obtain a mesoporous-microporous core-shell composite molecular sieve material. In the preparation method of the present invention, high-temperature calcination is omitted as the template agent is extracted directly using ethanol, and the preparation process is simpler. The micro-mesoporous core-shell composite molecular sieve is simple and convenient in operation and equipment requirements and low in price, and has good application prospect. Moreover, the micro-mesoporous core-shell composite molecular sieve has a significant adsorption effect on harmful substances especially phenol in smoke of cigarettes when being applied to a binary composite filter rod.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
