The present invention relates to a method for producing superabsorbent polymer resin. The method includes the steps of: a) preparing a hydrous gel phase polymer by executing thermal polymerization or photo-polymerization on a monomer composition including a water-soluble ethylene-based unsaturated monomer; b) drying the hydrous gel phase polymer; c) pulverizing the dried hydrous gel phase polymer; d) adding porous ultra-hydrophobic microparticles having properties of i) to iv) below and a surface cross-linking agent in the pulverized hydrous gel phase polymer; and e) executing surface cross-linking reaction. The properties are i) the particle size of 2 nm to 50 m, ii) a BET specific surface area of 300-1500 m^2/g, iii) ultra-hydrophobic properties having a contact angle with water of 125 or greater, and iv) porosity of 50% or greater.
