A matrix converter according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a power conversion unit and a driving control unit. The power conversion unit includes a plurality of bilateral switches connecting each phase of an alternating current power source and each phase of a rotation electronic device. The driving control unit controls the power conversion unit when the alternating current power source is less than or equal to a fixed value, supplies a reactive power to the alternating current power source from the power conversion unit, and controls torque of the rotation electronic device.
