The lenticular of the lenticular array can be electronically controlled to be optically equivalent to any of the two sets of virtual lenticles having two different physical properties. Each lentacle is close enough to one or more switchable optical elements to optically couple with the switchable optical element. The switchable optical element may be, for example, a switchable columnar prism. In the first state, the switchable prism is optically coupled to the lenticle such that the coupling is optically equivalent to the first set of lenticular lenses. In a second alternative, the switchable prism is optically coupled to the lenticle such that the coupling is optically equivalent to the second set of other lenticular lenses. Thus, the lenticular array can switch between two different configurations by flip of the switch.
