The present invention relates to an adaptive target detection method resistant to noise and clutter. The adaptive target detection method comprises the following steps: receiving images; converting the images into images according to frequency bands using Fourier transformation; processing an image within a predetermined frequency band, among the images converted by Fourier transformation, to be distinguished from other images; dividing the image into candidate regions likely to include a target and background regions unlikely to include the target, using a pixel value of the processed image; setting one, among the candidate regions, as a reference region to serve as a reference for target detection, comparing the pixel value of the candidate region with that of the reference region, and then determining whether a predetermined reference is satisfied; and determining a region, which corresponds to the pixel value satisfying the predetermined reference, as a target region including the target.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
