The present invention provides a direct drive typed traction motor for a railway vehicle including a coupling comprised of a carbon fiber. The direct drive typed traction motor for a railway vehicle of the present invention comprises: a stator fixed in a carriage for railway vehicle; a rotor including a permanent magnet and combining with an axle; a frame covering the stator and the rotor; a housing combined with both ends of the frame; and a coupling reducing a vibration generated from the rail by combining with the axle, and having a carbon fiber as a material, so that a weight and initiative may be reduced, a response characteristic is improved, flux path structure is smoothly performed, and heat generation is increased. A stabilized combining structure of a frame structure and a coupling, and reduction in weight of the coupling is very important for preventing accidents and in a good cooling property of the traction motor. Accordingly, the total weight of the traction motor is reduced, and a response speed is improved by comprising the coupling material of the traction motor with the carbon fiber.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
