The present invention relates to a surveillance system for watching movement of prisoners, and more specifically, to a surveillance system which can watch the movement of prisoners or can prevent suicide of the prisoners in advance in a prison using a distance detection sensor and a movement detection sensor. The surveillance system for watching the movement of the prisoners in the prison includes: one or more prison cells where the distance detection sensor and the movement detection sensor are located on a ceiling thereof; one or more prison worker rooms which are networked with the prison cells and watch the prisoners in a corresponding prison cell; and a central control room which is networked with the prison worker rooms and watches the prisoners of the whole prison cells. The surveillance system can be realized to judge the abnormality of the behavior of the prisoners based on the operation of the movement detection sensor and a distance value between the ceiling and the prisoner measured by the distance detection sensor.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
