The present invention relates to a method for selectively encrypting vector map data of a geographic information system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for selectively encrypting vector map data of a geographic information system relates to a method for encrypting vector map data of a geographic information system including geographic object information, and a header. The method comprises the following steps: extracting the header to select the geographic object information in the vector map data; encrypting the selected geographic object information; and storing the encrypted geographic object information to the vector map data.
