The present invention relates to a method for fabricating an organic-inorganic porous separation membrane for a rechargeable battery and the organic-inorganic porous separation membrane fabricated through the method. Provided is an organic-inorganic porous separation membrane including an active layer acquired by coating polyolefin porous base and a surface of the base with an organic-inorganic binder polymer mixture, which is obtained by reforming an active site of porous silica particles into fatty acid of C_6-C_36 or oxidized wax. The porous separation membrane according to the present invention represents a superior adhesive strength with the base, and a superior battery characteristic can be provided due to superior ion conductivity and as an electrolyte flow space is optimized, when compared with a conventional separation membrane.
