METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR VERIFYING CALLER PHONE NUMBER USING CELL PHONE LETTERING SERVICE FOR VOICE PHISHING PREVENTION

Disclosed are a method and a system to verify a caller phone number using a cell phone lettering service to prevent voice phishing. The method to verify a phone number comprises the steps of: configuring a message including at least a caller phone number; generating a message authentication code (MAC) using a symmetric key shared with a receiver terminal in advance, and the message or generating a digital signature for the message using a secret key or the message; generating a lettering phrase including a text or an image by encoding the MAC or the digital signature; and registering the lettering phrase in a lettering service providing server. The lettering phrase can be provided to the receiver terminal from the lettering service providing server when a call to the receiver terminal is made. The MAC or the digital signature included in the lettering phrase is verified by a public key corresponding to the symmetric key or the secret key, by which the caller phone number is verified in the receiver terminal.
