A sphere decoding method for signal reconstruction in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system according to the present invention comprises: a reception unit receiving at least a reception symbol; a tree construction unit constructing a tree by utilizing constellation information and antenna information; and a detection unit detecting a candidate node corresponding to the reception symbol by using the tree. Independent circular constraint with regard to each level of the tree and spherical constraint related to the each level are applied together in the detection unit. According to the present invention, the complexity of sphere decoding can be remarkably reduced. The complexity of sphere decoding can be remarkably decreased regardless of any constellation. In addition, the present invention can be commonly applied to all modulation methods as independent of a structure and characteristics of a symbol vector. Furthermore, advantages of increasing memory use of a receiver and decreasing the complexity of signal processing inside the receiver can be expected since only a two-stage single sphere decoding technique is included in the receiver.
