The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) infectious diseases, comprising a Vitisamurensis root extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating VRE infectious diseases using heyneanol A which is separated from the extract or the fraction. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a non-medicinal composition for preventing or improving VRE infectious diseases comprising a Vitisamurensis root extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient and to a method for treating VRE infectious diseases of animals including the step of administrating the composition into a VRE infectious disease suspected case other than humans. The composition according to the present invention can be effectively used for preventing, treating or improving the VRE infectious disease. The heyneanol A, which is an active ingredient of the present invention, is able to provide a safe medicine which is side effect free when compared to synthetic drugs as a natural product derived compound separated from the Vitisamurensis root extract or the fraction thereof.
