The present invention relates to an underwater sensor network (UWSN) through which a base station periodically visits a network without existing in the network, and collects data collected by sensor nodes, and relates to a TESLA method and a UWSN system using the same, which uses a variable key slot according to a visiting probability of the base station in order to authenticate a broadcast message transmitted from the base station to the sensor node. For attaining the foregoing, provided is a TESLA using the variable key slot for authenticating the broadcast message in a UWSN environment, in which, in order to authenticate the broadcast message in a wireless sensor network environment where the base station periodically visits a network without residing in the network and collects data collected by the sensor nodes, on the basis of a probability distribution that the base state visits the sensor nodes according to the time, in the case of the time when the visiting probability is low, each of the sensor nodes uses the length of the key slot for a long time, and in the case of the time when the visiting probability is high, each of the sensor noes uses the length of the key slot for a short time, so that the authentication for the message transmitted from the base station is performed.
