The present invention relates to a computing method for determining an over-provisioning space size and an apparatus thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the computing method for determining an over-provisioning space size comprises the steps of: determining a first OPS size of a virtual machine; determining a maximum input/output speed of the virtual machine; calculating a first garbage collection cost of the virtual machine to maintain the maximum input/output speed of the virtual machine; checking a current garbage collection cost of the virtual machine; comparing the first garbage collection cost and the current garbage collection cost of the virtual machine; and determining a current OPS size.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
