Disclosed are an apparatus for producing a time-lapse image and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the apparatus comprises: a storing unit stored with a plurality of photographing locations for photographing a target object; a GPS reception unit for communicating with a satellite to recognize the current location; a camera unit for photographing the target object at a moment when the photographing location and the current location coincide; a flying drive unit for driving an air movement means for moving the same to the photographing locations; and a control unit for controlling the flying drive unit to move the same to the photographing location, and controlling the camera unit to perform a photographing motion at a moment when the current location recognized through the GPS reception unit and the photographing location stored in the storing unit coincide. According to the present invention, construction processes of a large sized structure can be photographed in a plurality of photographing locations so as to easily produce a time-lapse image.
