An earthquake warning system using an application according to the present invention comprises: a plurality of portable terminals to execute an earthquake warning application; and an earthquake warning device which communicates with the portable terminals and detects an aftershock when the aftershock occurs to supply aftershock information to the portable terminals. The earthquake warning device comprises: an earthquake detection unit to detect an earthquake signal for the aftershock which occurs after a main earthquake; an aftershock information generation unit to generate aftershock information including a waveform and a scale of the aftershock based on the earthquake signal detected by the earthquake detection unit; an aftershock information comparison unit to compare the generated aftershock information with a prescribed threshold value; an earthquake warning control unit to generate an earthquake control signal if the aftershock information is larger than or equal to the prescribed threshold value; a damage radius information generation unit to set a damage radius from a seismic center of the aftershock based on the aftershock information to generate damage radius information; an earthquake warning signal generation unit to generate an earthquake warning signal including the earthquake control signal and the set damage radius information; and a first communication unit to transmit the earthquake warning signal to the plurality of portable terminals. The earthquake control signal included in the earthquake warning signal transmitted to the portable terminals activates the earthquake warning application of the portable terminals.
