The present invention relates to a method for preparing an eco-friendly emulsion polymer coagulant by using a novel surfactant wherein an organic oil content can be reduced with a high W/O ratio by using the novel surfactant having HLB 7.5 when a W/O type emulsion polymer coagulant is prepared. The method for preparing an eco-friendly emulsion polymer coagulant by using a novel surfactant includes the steps of: (a) forming a first solution in an aqueous phase by dissolving a nonionic water-soluble monomer and a cationic water-soluble monomer in water and then adding a chelating agent; (b) forming a second solution in an oil phase by adding a surfactant having HLB 7.5 in organic oil; (c) emulsifying the second solution in an oil phase by dispersing the second solution in an oil phase in the first solution in an aqueous solution; and (d) forming a polymer coagulant by heating a product of the step (c), agitating the product, and then adding an initiator in the product to polymerize.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
