STATIC VAR COMPENSATOR AND METHOD FOR SWITCHING CONTROL THEREOF

The present invention relates to a static var compensator (SVC) which improves stability by adjusting a voltage of a power system, by controlling insertion/removal of a load as being connected to the power system. The static var compensator of the present invention includes: a power electronic element part which compensates reactive power by comprising at least one power electronic element; a command receiving part which receives a switching command as to the power electronic elements comprised in the power electronic element part which is inputted from the outside; a control part which controls a switching operation for insertion/removal of the load through the power electronic elements, if the switching command is received through the receiving part; and a switching part which performs the switching operation to correspond to the control of the control part, as being connected to the power electronic elements comprised in the power electronic element part. The switching part is realized by a mechanical switch and is connected to the power electronic element in parallel.
