The invention relates to the field of aviation, in particular, to the means of forming the uneven flow in wind tunnels, which allows investigating the aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft models in a gradient flow formed by shear flow around obstacles. An apparatus for creating a gradient in an open flow of the working part of the wind tunnel comprises a profiled insert 3 with the screen 1 disposed at an angle of 50-70 ° to the longitudinal axis of the insert, and the side plates 2, mounted on a side surface perpendicular to the screen profiled insert. For gradient flow device is placed in a wind tunnel nozzle in parallel with the axis of the working part of the pipe so that the trailing edge of the profiled insert was positioned downstream of the slice nozzle of the wind tunnel and upstream of the point of suspension models.
