FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: method includes collecting sedimentary rock samples and extracting insoluble organic matter therefrom; measuring the intensity of infrared spectral bands at 2930, 2850, 1710 and 630 cm^-1 of the infrared spectrum of the insoluble organic matter.
