Synthesis of zeolite X with hierarchical morphology from fly ash

A process is provided for the synthesis of a fly ash-based zeolite X with unique hierarchical morphology. The method comprises the steps of: mixing the flyash with NaOH and heating the mixture to obtain a molten mass. The molten mass is crushed to a fine powder. The fine powder is mixed with water in a mass ratio of 1 to less than 5 to obtain a slurry. The slurry is then subjected to a separation step to separate the solids and the liquid. The liquid solution is then subjected to a step of hydrothermal crystallization to obtain zeolite X crystals.
