User-Guided Active Noise Canceling (ANC) control unit for headphones

Embodiments are directed to enabling headphones to perform active noise cancellation for a particular user. Each separate user may provide individualized noise suppression head amps for one or more noise environments. When the user wears the headphones in a quiet environment, a user may use a computer to initiate a determination of a controlled model of each auricle specifically for the user. When the user wears the headphones in a target noise environment, the user may use the computer to initiate the determination of operating parameters of a control unit for each earpiece of the headphones. The computer can provide the operating parameters of each control unit to the headphones. And the operation of each control unit can be updated based on the determined operating parameters. The updated headphones can be used by the user to provide active noise cancellation.
