Battery simulator with variable current capacity

An accumulator simulator can operate to provide different outputs. These outputs provide different features related to the operation of a device during testing. In one example, a controller, such as an electronic control module (ECM) or battery energy control module (BECM), may be tested. The battery simulator may provide different modes of operation, for example, a high current mode or a voltage change mode. A traction battery simulator may include a controller, analog output circuits controlled by the controller to output test current and test voltage, and circuitry coupled to the analog output circuits having first and second states. The first state is to provide an increased voltage change compared to the time change with respect to the second state. The second state serves to provide increased capacity compared to the first state.
