The system (10) has a management unit (42) maintaining a zone (202) representative of the position of a runway contiguous to a centered zone. The unit is centered on the runway and a front zone (204). A peripheral zone extends partially around the centered zone and/or from the front zone. The management unit includes a length defining unit (210) for dynamic definition of length of the front zone on a display (36) such as a semi-transparent head-up display, according to a vertical decision position, decision height, or decision altitude associated with selected approach of the runway. An independent claim is also included for a display method.
