The present invention relates to a process for producing biomethane on the basis of the biogas obtained by methanization, in which the biogas supplying the step of purification from biomethane is drawn into the buffer storage of the production installation, the biomethane being intended to supply a network of natural gas, in which the method further comprises the steps in order to control and adjust the flow rate of the biogas supplying the purification step with at least one step of measuring the quantity of biogas present in the storage, as well as an adaptation step of the flow rate of the biogas supplying the purification step according to the quantity of biogas measured in the storage, so as to maintain or to restore the quantity of biogas stored at a minimum value defined by the producer optimum.
