Each blade (10) includes a coupling interface having a plurality of network connection ports, and a backplane card (12) carries a network link routing for coupling the N blades (L1, L2 ... LN). These are ordered according to a predefined logical sequence of chaining and are coupled sequentially with each other, each blade being coupled by a first port to the blade which precedes it and by a second port to the blade which follows it, via a single network link. (22, 24) configured on the backplane board. Each of the blades includes means for cascading data transfer to another of the N blades from the first port to the second port, or vice versa. The chassis is devoid of blades dedicated to the redundant interconnection of the links between the other blades of the chassis.
