The invention relates to a method for controlling a permanent magnet synchronous electric machine comprising a stator and a rotor adapted to be rotated with respect to the stator, the method comprising steps of: - Measuring a DC voltage (Vdc) supplied by a power source, - Determine setpoints (Id *, Iq *) of current components in a rotating reference mark (d, q) associated with the rotor, as a function of the measured voltage (Vdc), of a speed of rotation (Ωmeca) of the rotor relative to the stator and a set torque (Γ *), and - control a DC-AC converter to convert the DC voltage (Vdc) supplied by the source into AC phase voltage (Vphase) applied to the stator to generate a phase current in the stator according to the setpoint values, in which the setpoint values (id *, lq *) of current components are determined by means of a control table d wherein a plurality of triplets of DC voltage values, rotational speed of the rotor and setpoint torque are recorded and, for each triplet, pre-calculated reference values of associated current components.
