The parallel hybrid drive (1) comprises an electro-machine (3), a combustion engine, electrical energy storage (4) and controllers (7,8,10). A target deterioration curve is deposited for component in a controller to detect the actual deterioration of the component. An operation strategy is adjusted with an exceedance of the target deterioration curve over the actual deterioration so that actual deterioration approaches to the target deterioration curve : An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling parallel hybrid drive.
