In a method for mapping a network topology request including a plurality of Virtual Network Operator (VNO) nodes and a plurality of VNO links to a physical network, for each of a plurality of VNO nodes included in the network topology request a site cluster is determined including a plurality of sites in the physical network that meet a VNO node resource requirement associated with the VNO node to be mapped, and one or more migration paths in the physical network are selected that meet a backup link requirement for a link between the sites of the site cluster. For each of a plurality of VNO links between respective VNO nodes included in the network topology request a plurality of paths in the physical network are determined that meet a VNO link requirement for a path between two site clusters, and from the paths determined a primary path and at least one backup path for linking two site clusters are determined.
