The system (20) has a group (42A) of voltage sensors (56A, 58A, 60A) to measure the voltage of a phase conductor (34) with respect to a neutral conductor (22). A monitoring device is connected to each sensor by a data link (62). Groups (42B, 42C) of voltage sensors (56B, 56C, 58B, 58C, 60B, 60C) are arranged in positions along an electric network. The monitoring device detects variation in the voltage of the phase conductor between successive groups of the sensors so as to detect variation of impedance of the neutral conductor between the successive groups of sensors. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electric transformer station connected to a polyphase alternative electric network (2) a method for detecting variation of impedance of a neutral conductor of a polyphase alternative electric network.
