The invention relates to a magnetic coil assembly (1), comprising at least one coil section (2), which is wound with a high-temperature superconductor (HTS) strip conductor (4), and a low-temperature superconductor (LTS) wire (7), the HTS strip conductor (4) and the LTS wire (7) being electrically connected in series and the HTS strip conductor (4) and the LTS wire (7) forming a joint (6). The assembly is characterized in that a first end segment (19a) of the HTS strip conductor (4) before a first end (19) of the HTS strip conductor (4) and a first end segment (20a) of the LTS wire (7) before a first end (20) of the LTS wire (7) are connected to each other electrically, but not in a superconductive manner, in a connection segment (17) over the length of the connection segment (17), the LTS wire (7) being flat at least in the region of the connection segment (17) and the flat LTS wire (7) being laid against the HTS strip conductor (4) by means of one side of the flat LTS wire, and in that the connection segment (17) has a length of at least 5 m. The invention provides a magnetic coil assembly for which an acceptably small, residual ohmic resistance is established in a simple manner.
