The purpose of the present invention is to provide a technique for causing trait modification in plants by delivering a target substance from outside the cell. The present invention provides a substance delivery method in which a target substance is introduced within a plant cell by treating a plant body with a cell wall treating agent which includes a chelating agent and a surfactant.
