NANOSTRUCTURED FERRITIC ALLOY COMPONENTS AND RELATED PRODUCTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide NFA-components which can be welded to other components without sacrificing mechanical properties of the NFA at operating temperatures.;SOLUTION: An article, e.g., an article of a turbomachine is presented. The article includes a weldable first component having a base portion and a flange portion. The flange portion outwardly extends perpendicularly to a surface of the base portion and is connected to the base portion by a solid-state connection. The base portion contains a nanostructured ferritic alloy, and the flange portion contains steel substantially free of oxide nano-features.
