PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection system of an elevator capable of upgrading precision in detecting the position of a car without making the structure complex, and an elevator including the position detection system.SOLUTION: The present invention is a position detection system 12 of an elevator 1 that is disposed in the elevator 1 which ascends or descends in a hoistway 2 of a building and includes a car 4 that moves to a landing 3 on each floor, and that detects the position of the car 4. The position detection system 12 includes a permanent magnet 150 that is disposed on each of the landings 3 and magnetized, a coil 160 that is disposed in the car 4 in the form of a closed circuit, and interlinks with a flux of a magnetic field, which is formed by the permanent magnet 150, when the car 4 approaches the landing 3, a property detector 17 that detects as an analog signal a predetermined property which is susceptible to a change in the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet 150 interlinking with the coil 160, and a position identifier 18 that identifies the position of the car 4 on the basis of the analog signal detected by the property detector 17.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
