PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method of a taper thread capable of determining simply and accurately whether a peak or a ridge is generated or not on a thread ridge of the taper thread.SOLUTION: It is determined whether a taper thread is acceptable or unacceptable on the basis of a position determined when a taper thread gauge 14, in which at least one of each flank shape on a nearer part 17 to the summit of a peak than a position of a pitch line 15 and on a nearer part 18 to the bottom than the position of the pitch line 15 is retreated in a narrowing direction of the width of a thread ridge in comparison with the shape of a basic profile 16, is screwed into the taper thread which is an inspection object until being stopped.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
