PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict a purchase behavior more accurately, on the assumption that purchase of a customer succeeds by lottery, or at a certain probability.SOLUTION: A purchase prediction apparatus for predicting purchase behavior of a customer includes: a purchase behavior prediction model learning section which receives purchase information indicating a commodity purchased by the customer, commodity attribute information indicating a commodity attribute associated with the commodity, and commodity quantity information indicating the number of commodities possible to be sold, to predict customer-based commodity attribute preference indicating a value of interest of the customer in a commodity attribute and commodity attribute-based popularity indicating popularity of each commodity attribute, by use of EM algorithm; and a customer purchase probability calculation section which receives the customer-based commodity attribute preference and the commodity attribute-based popularity, to calculate commodity application probability indicating probability that the customer tries to purchase a commodity and commodity purchase probability indicating probability that the commodity is successfully purchased by the customer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
