PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and efficient method of decomposing fluorine-based organic compounds and a decomposition apparatus for fluorine-based organic compounds useful for execution of the method.;SOLUTION: A method of decomposing fluorine-based organic compounds is based on irradiating a target fluorine-based organic compound with light in the presence of electrolytic sulfuric acid. More specifically, a target fluorine-based organic compound is added to electrolytic sulfuric acid obtained on the anode side when a sulfuric acid aqueous solution is electrolyzed and irradiated with light to decompose the fluorine-based organic compound into a fluoride ion and carbon dioxide. The method eliminates the need of decomposing the fluorine-based organic compound by burning at high temperatures, like conventional methods, leading to reduction of energy costs for decomposition.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
