PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and efficiently recovering rare earth elements from a rare earth element-containing product, and particularly to provide a method for easily and efficiently recovering rare earth elements from a rare earth magnet incorporated in a product.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for recovering rare earth elements which comprises at least the following sequential steps: 1 a step of heating and melting a rare earth element-containing product; 2 a step of adding an oxidizing agent into a solution after heating and melting; 3 a step of adding BOinto the solution; and 4 a step of cooling the solution to separate into three phases of a BOphase, a rare earth-rich phase, and an Fe-containing phase and taking out the rare earth-rich phase.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
