PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color gamut evaluation value output apparatus and color gamut evaluation value output method that are capable of outputting information for objectively evaluating whether or not the balance of color gamut capable of being reproduced by a display apparatus is appropriate.SOLUTION: A color gamut evaluation value output apparatus 10 comprises: system color gamut element specifying means 11 for stipulating four triangles R-G-B, G-B-W, B-R-W, and R-G-W(the R, G, and Bare three primary color points of a video system to be a target) on a chromaticity diagram of the video system; display apparatus display color gamut specifying means 12 for stipulating, when display of a display apparatus to be evaluated is performed by using three primary colors, a triangle taking respective three primary colors of the display apparatus to be evaluated as its apexes; overlap ratio calculating means 13 for calculating an area overlap ratio of a triangle showing a color gamut of the display apparatus to be evaluated to each of the four triangles; and area overlap ratio information outputting means 14 for outputting information obtained by associating calculated area overlap ratios with the four triangles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
