METHOD FOR MAINTAINING FUNCTION OF LIVER TISSUE CELL OVER LONG PERIOD OF TIME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liver tissue cell sheet for live organ transplantation capable of maintaining cellular functions of a liver tissue over a long period of time.SOLUTION: On a cell culture support, the surface of which is coated with a polymer whose hydration power varies in the temperature range of 0-80°C, liver tissue cells which are obtained from a liver tissue in a temperature range where the hydration power of the polymer is weak and which include at least hepatic parenchymal cells, are cultured. After that, the cultured liver tissue cells are flaked off by the change of culture liquid to a temperature at which the hydration power of the polymer becomes strong, and a liver tissue cell sheet for transplantation, which exhibits long-term expression of liver functions when transplanted to a living body, is obtained.
