PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating pressure loss of an air cleaner installed in a suction passage of an engine with a supercharger, without increasing components.SOLUTION: A pressure loss estimation method of an air cleaner calculates an outlet side pressure P3 of a compressor 4 constituting a supercharger 6 by using output values of existing state amount sensors (air flow meter 21, supercharging pressure sensor 22) (S2); calculates an inlet side pressure P1 from the calculated outlet side pressure P3, by using a characteristic map of the compressor 4 indicating relationship between a ratio of the inlet side pressure P1 and outlet side pressure P3 of the compressor 4 and gas flow rates flowing in suction pipes 11, 12, 13 (S3); and calculates pressure loss of an air cleaner 7 from the calculated inlet side pressure P1 (S4).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
