PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire grid polarizer that can be made thinner compared to conventional ones and maintain sufficient mechanical strength.SOLUTION: A transfer film 9 includes, on a transfer layer 4, a polarizer layer 10 that limits transmission of incident electromagnetic waves depending on polarization planes, and the transfer film comprises a support body 15 and the transfer layer 4 laminated as peelable on the support body 15. On the transfer layer 4, a plurality of recessed grooves are fabricated by use of a molding resin material, with a pitch and a groove width less than the shortest wavelength of a wavelength band where transmission is to be limited; and a metal material is disposed in the recessed grooves to form metal wires 11 having a pitch and a line width less than the shortest wavelength of the wavelength band where transmission is to be limited.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
