PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a system for reducing an amount of NOx in exhaust gas of an automobile.SOLUTION: A control method of this invention comprises defining an operation judging standard determined in regard to an engine torque in the first period; filtering the operation judging standard in a filter period in correspondence with the first period; comparing the filtered operation judging standard with a different threshold to determine an operation type; determining a time used at each of the operation types during the second period and relating a pattern expressing an operating condition during the second period; calculating set pressure or temperature related to the operation type and operation pattern expressing the past operating condition; comparing the set pressure or temperature with pressure or temperature measured by a device for measuring pressure or temperature; and heating a storing chamber when the pressure or the temperature is lower than the set pressure or set temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
