PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of outputting a necessary electric current to a gradient magnetic field coil more easily and at a more appropriate timing.;SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus of one embodiment includes a data collection system and a data processing system. The data collection system collects a magnetic resonance signal from a subject. The data processing system generates magnetic resonance image data based on the magnetic resonance signal. The data collection system includes a gradient magnetic field coil unit, and first and second amplifiers. The gradient magnetic field coil unit applies a gradient magnetic field to the subject. The first amplifier amplifies an electric current, and outputs it to the gradient magnetic field coil unit. When connected to the gradient magnetic field coil unit by the switching of a switch, the second amplifier amplifies an electric current and outputs it to the gradient magnetic field coil unit.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2;COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
