The present invention relates to a transition metal-based precursor catalyst represented by Formula I. Wherein the substituents have the meanings defined in the specification. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of the transition metal-based precursor catalyst represented by formula I and the catalyst components obtained therefrom. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an olefin polymerization process using a catalyst component composed of a transition metal-based precursor catalyst represented by formula I.
