PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlled release dosage form useful for controlling hyperuricemia, gout, and many other disease states.SOLUTION: A controlled release dosage form containing xanthine oxidoreductase inhibitor or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof indicates: after dosage to an object who needs treatment thereof, (a) maintaining the concentration of xanthine oxidoreductase inhibitor or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in plasma at more than about 0.1 μg/mL in the object for the period of about 5 to about 24 hours; and (b) bringing the maximum concentration in plasma (Cmax) of xanthine oxidoreductase inhibitor or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof between 1.0 to 2.5 μg/mL to the object. The controlled release dosage form uses a compound as a xanthine oxidoreductase inhibitor exemplified in 2-[3-cyano-4-(3-hydroxy-methylpropoxy)phenyl]-4-methylthiazolecarboxylic acid or the like.SELECTED DRAWING: None
